I can’t even believe how much time flies. How many incredible people I’ve photographed over the past several months. TONS of weddings, families, engagements, seniors. I’ve put a lot of hours, blood, sweat and tears into my work.
Every time I get ready to post another blog post, it forces me to look at my work as a whole rather than going from session to session trying to make a living and making my clients happy. I photograph ALL sorts of sessions and do all the normal posey posed stuff just like every other photographer.
This post is going to be a bit different.
These images are MY personal favorites. The images that make my heart sing. The images that I’m proud of. These are the images that I wish were hung huge on my client’s walls. Some of them just make me laugh. I like to create art that stirs something in someone. I want to make you laugh, smile, or even cry.
My favorites are almost always different than the ones my clients pick and that’s okay. That’s why I overwhelm them with a ton to choose from.
So here’s a bit about me and what I love through my photographs….
Every year I tell myself I’m going to get better at blogging. And every year I find myself too busy working and posting my images on facebook, that my poor site gets neglected. It’s late at night on a friday and I’m prepping for a wedding tomorrow but figured I could at least post some images!!
Whenever I pull from my files to post it strikes me at how different my work is from one session to another. Yes I have a distinct style but I notice more and more how much I photograph based on the feel of the wedding or session. Some are bright and airy, some are deep and emotive. It’s kinda interesting looking at my favorites as a whole and seeing how I appreciate so many different things.
Anyhoo, enough talkity talk. Here’s some photos. <3
It’s mid-August and I’m just popping in to post some recent favorites. I’m in the middle of wedding season right now (we have 23 weddings this year! A new record!) 😉 It’s been so fun traveling all over the area photographing people on their happiest day. I LOVE LOVE my job!!!
I’m currently booking for mid-October/November/December and am already booking weddings for 2014. I cannot even begin to express how blessed we are to have such great support of our business. We are a family of five and this is our income. So thank you THANK YOU to my awesome clients for believing in me!!
Okay I’ll stop so I don’t get too mushy. I love you all. Thank you.
Here’s some previews:
celebrating 50 years of marriage. <3 <3 <3
Here’s some of my favorite images taken this spring!! My spring was full of weddings, seniors and family sessions. All of my favorite things!!
It’s always interesting to look at my own work and see where I’m evolving and the types of images that become my favorites. I’m drawn to scenic and dramatically lit images. After being in business seven years I’m finally defining my own unique style. It’s an awesome feeling!!
My summer coming up is completely FULL with weddings (my absolute FAV!!). It’s going to be an amazing year. I will be taking limited sessions in the summer due to my crazy schedule but I do still have about 10 spots for regular sessions left. So give a call if you want a session before October!!
So I kinda won a lot of trophies at the Professional Photographers of Washington’s annual print competition last week!!
I was absolutely BLOWN away with all the awards I received. See, previously I’ve only ever gotten “participants” trophies. You know, the ones you get just for being a part of the team? Yup. That was me. I played various sports growing and only ever got those “thanks for playing” trophies. I was always just average at everything I did but I certainly tried my best. So at the awards banquet when they kept calling up my name for various awards, I was practically in shock. I honestly couldn’t believe it!!
Since I’m horrible with words, here’s my official “press release:”

SO yeah, I’m kinda stunned and excited to say the least!! My images will be going on to The annual International Print Competition next month. I’m hoping to have at least one image go to the Loan Collection but we’ll see how it goes!!
I’m currently working on getting my Masters from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA.org). I’m hoping to complete the program by 2015. All of the merits I earn in print competition help me earn my Masters (as well as several other merits I have to earn through various sources). It’s a very busy and exciting time. I’m so thankful to all the fellow photographers who are helping me on my journey. I cannot thank them enough for all the help they’ve been giving me. SUPER big thanks to all those who have been taking the time to mentor me and help me in my journey.
Here’s a cheesy photo of me with all my trophies!!
Here’s the images I got awards on!!
