Meet Mr. Lemondrops…

This is the man behind the Lemondrops Photography business. Yes it’s true that I take the photos, but I could not do it without the help, love, and support from this handsome man. He’s the guy that bought me my very first digital camera 7 years ago and my first professional camera 4 years ago. He’s encouraged me along the way and supported me while I learned photography. He helps me balance out life and work. I honestly could not do what I do without him.

Thanks Mr. Lemmons for all that you do.

(and yes, this is him making dinner. He’s a better cook than I am.)

More of Gina and Tyler….

Okay I’ve officially decided that I’m in love with Astoria. A beautiful location plus a completely gorgeous couple equals Jenica doing the happy dance. (I’m loving my job!!!)

Here are just a few more of my favorites from Saturday. I’m sure I will be posting more later. This wedding was amazing!

Happy Birthday Nate!!

Today is my brother’s 29th birthday. Yes, this is his very first 29th birthday. I’m sure that there will be more in the coming years.  ;)

He’s my one and only blood-related sibling. Though he’s only a year and a half older than me, as a kid he always seemed so much older.

I grew up tagging along behind him and trying to not be a “pesky little sister.” I’m sure he often grew tired of me. We had many adventures growing up out in the country. I have fond memories of making mud pies and bug collecting. Luckily for him I was never a girly girl and I would ride motorcycles with him or go hunting with him. Of course as I got older, I would try to drag him shopping with me but he was never interested. Now that I’m older and married I realize that most men aren’t interested in shopping. Go figure.

Having an older brother is the main reason I wanted to have more than one child. I learned how to share, how to get along, and even how to fight. I often laugh when my kids start bickering  in the back seat of the car. I have many memories of Nate and I pestering each other in the backseat. Being the more “mature one” I would often scream “MOM, Nate is hitting me!!!!!”

Nate, I love you more than you know and I’m so glad I’m your little sister.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday!

My bro:

Nate has a salt water tank and lately he’s taken up photography so he can get good images of his fish and his tank. I have to say that I’m completely impressed with his photos. I’m so proud of my brother the photographer!!!

June 30, 2009 - 8:17 am Marja - I am so proud of the both of you, my wonderful and talented son and daughter! "Nathan" means, "Gift from God"; and "Jenica" means,"God is Gracious". That pretty much says it all. I have been so blessed! Mom

June 30, 2009 - 8:45 am Julie Toney - Happy Birthday Nate!! I'm so glad to have met Natalie and you! Your awesome wife is a great friend and teaching partner! Love all the pictures Jenica. Nate didn't do too bad either! :)

My weekend…

Yesterday I spent the day photographing an absolutely gorgeous wedding in Astoria, Oregon. I’m completely exhausted and ready for bed, but I wanted to show this quick preview for Gina and Tyler. Mondays are ridiculously busy for me so I figure I’d better show it before my work day starts early tomorrow morning.

I want to give a special thanks to my awesome hubby for not only watching the kids while I worked all weekend, but for telling me to photograph this shot from this angle.  I personally think he’d make an amazing photographer. Unfortunately for me, he’s not interested.

Congrats Gina and Tyler. I will be posting more really soon!

June 29, 2009 - 12:09 pm Ashlie - Oh wow! Can't wait to see more of these.

June 30, 2009 - 9:23 pm Deanna Lemmons - You have got to put a photo book of this wedding in the Hotel. It would be advantageous for both your business and theirs.

I love film!

Well, the look of film anyway.

I’ve never actually used film professionally. Yes, I’m a digital girl. In the last seven years that I’ve been into photography, all I’ve ever shot with is digital cameras.

Lately I’ve been playing around with different photo effects to get that old school “film” look. It’s been a lot of fun playing around in photoshop to try and get the desired effect that I want. I get tired of the same ol’ processing that I do, so it’s nice to change it up every once in awhile.

This beautiful couple was from my May 16th wedding in Astoria. I think this effect fits these images perfectly. What do you think? Any and all feedback is totally welcomed!!!

June 26, 2009 - 1:08 pm Elena - Amazing work! I love grain in my B&W or sepia images. They have such a nostalgic classic look.

June 26, 2009 - 4:02 pm MegganB - I love this look - sooo beautiful and elegant! Have you tried adding a little grain to them to make them even more old school?

June 26, 2009 - 6:42 pm Iris Hicks - I love film too and I love your classic fresh interpretation of it in these wedding photos. It's a nice change.

The “B” kids - Children’s photography in Longview, WA

I had the pleasure of photographing this little guy in his first few days of life (can be seen here), now three months later his blonde hair and blue eyes are mirror images of his sisters. These cuties were sweetly happy and a lot of fun play with.  These sessions with little ones always moves me as I see the true beauty of God at work.  Thanks for choosing me to catch these precious moments.
I’m extremely grateful to be able to do what I love so much.
I hope you enjoy your preview!

June 25, 2009 - 4:51 pm Kaylyn - As usual you are amazing. Love the colors!

New look, same great taste!

You might notice a few things that are different around here if you’re used to coming to my site. I’ve completely changed my logo and I’ve added a new background paper.

This whole change has been in the works for quite some time. I needed a fresh look and something that reflected my style a bit better.

I’m still playing around with background papers and slideshow images. Don’t worry though, I’ll get it figured out!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Rachel and Paul - June 6th, 2009 Wedding

Paul and Rachel tied the knot on June 6th, 2009 at The Community Church here in Longview, Washington. They had a romantic candle lit ceremony and were surrounded by their friends and family. You could tell they were both totally excited to be getting married. It was a beautiful wedding and every detail was absolutely perfect.

Thanks so much for having me photograph your big day. I hope you enjoy your preview!!

I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I had with these folks. As my regular blog readers know, I don’t like traditional group photos. I’m always looking for fun and creative ways to photograph large groups. These guys totally made my job easy and fun!!

sb41sb51Paul and Rachel didn’t see each other before the wedding, so we had some extra time to get nice portraits of them by themselves.
