I didn’t zap my zits, I didn’t reduce any under-eye puffyness or reduce the black. I didn’t do my hair (well, I never really do my hair so that’s totally normal of me).

I DID turn them black and white just because it was a little cooler that way. These look so Myspaceish though. See look… I made up a new word.

*Myspaceish is defined as a “self portrait” done in a mirror complete with funny looks and fake smiles.

So here I am in all my baggy eyed, tired looking, pony tail wearing glory. I took these goofy pics late last night after not getting much sleep the night before. Okay, I’ll stop making excuses. THIS is what I really look like on most days…

I can’t help myself… I was bored on a Saturday afternoon, so I bribed Miss K to let me take her photos in her pretty pink sweater. She thankfully puts up with me and allows me to pester her for a few minutes at a time. I usually just let her do her thing and she makes wild faces at me. Sometimes I catch that quiet moment where she’s just sitting there and thinking. Other times I can say silly things and she’ll laugh.

I love this little girl very much. As much as she can get on my nerves for being just like me, I love her dearly. I’m so grateful God gave me such a beautiful, smart, and fun little girl. My children are the greatest gifts God has ever given me.

Often caused my having a parent (usually a mother) who takes photos of their kids on such a regular basis that they develop an acute awareness of cameras. Common reactions include screaming, running, crying, goofy faces, and outright disobedience.

Here’s some examples of what I’m talking about…

I did get some “normal photos” but it’s just not as fun as showing what really happens when I attempt portraits of my kiddos.

It was a quick and fairly easy commute for me. She wanted pics of her and her family before her brother went away in the military (and they hadn’t had pics done in four years together.). I know what it’s like to not have photos when you’re always behind the camera. I have my family session this next Monday and I’m excited to finally have a pic of the five of us together. We don’t even have a single snapshot of us all together.

Anyhoo… this family was a hoot. I can’t believe how much fun they were. Normally when I do older families I get a good maybe twenty minutes with them. This time they were willing to do whatever. They were incredibly patient and well behaved. ;)

I think they were well trained.

I had a blast and I hope they did too. Here’s some favs of the session…

He’s almost crawling already. He scoots himself all over the floor and rolls around to get to where he wants to be. He tries so hard to sit up, but he has such a big head that I think he can’t quite balance it yet (a trait of my kids is having large heads, must be a Lemmons thing). He’s also teething, so hence the drool. I kinda think it’s cute, but I often have “mommy goggles” when it comes to my kids.

These guys are like family to us. Eric is good friends with my hubby and they attended boot camp together when they first joined the army. We spent five years stationed in the same places (which is pretty remarkable in the military life). Melea and I became good friends and we made our own quilting group when we were in Hawaii. Since we were all so far away from our families, we all celebrated holidays together. There was a small group of us that had moved around the same places. It made the military life a little easier to bear.

It was awesome to see them again! Thankfully for us, they’re now only an hour away in Vancouver, WA. I’m looking forward to us getting together more often.
