Here’s a few favorites from some of my latest newborn sessions. I ADORE newborn sessions and it’s so much fun when I’ve photographed the parents’ wedding as well. Mr. Oliver’s parents got married one year ago in a gorgeous wedding atop Mt. St. Helens. You can see their wedding here. Ms. Charlotte’s parents were married this past winter in this beautiful wedding at Timberline Lodge.

It’s so fun to watch families grow. I’m so blessed to have people come back to me after photographing other important events in their lives.

Having a baby in our family is SOOOOOO exciting. This is my husband’s cousin and their brand new little baby girl. It’s even cooler that they are our next door neighbors. It’s not too often folks with the same last name live right by each other.

She was the EASIEST little girl to photograph. So incredibly sweet and perfect.

I LOOOOOOVVVEEEE babies (if you guys didn’t know!!!). I’m all done having babies of my own so it’s just fun to have little ones come to the studio for me to photograph. I’ve been told I’m a baby whisperer, but I think it’s only the patience I’ve learned from having three kiddos of my own.

Anyhoo, enough of my blabbity blabbing (yes, real words).

On to the photos!!!

I’m not even gonna lie. I was BEYOND excited at even the idea of getting flown out for a session. So excited that I didn’t even believe that anyone would actually do that for me. So yes, my most exciting adventure this year was getting flown to California to do a newborn session for my huband’s cousin’s baby (say that three times fast!!)

They are the nicest, sweetest people and I was thrilled that they even wanted me to photograph their brand new little guy. He was beyond perfect for our session. I can easily say that it was my best newborn session to date!!

We stayed down there for four days and even went to Disneyland for a day without kids (guilt? you betcha. But SOOOOOOO much fun!!!). Extra bonus was staying with Derrick’s aunt and uncle that we rarely see and getting to know them better.

Anyhoo, enough of my blabbering. Here’s the sweetest little guy from California….

It’s been a baby boom lately!!! I’ve been so busy posting weddings that I haven’t had a chance to post these cuties!!

I’m getting ready to photograph my dad’s wedding in a couple of hours so I don’t have time to talk about how wonderful all these sessions were, but figured those of you who have been waiting to see these pics wouldn’t mind if I was not as talkative today.

This little guy was the smiliest newborn I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. He snoozed right through the entire session and was just perfect. We ended up with about ten photos just of smiles on top of all the other cute-ness. He was 12 days old on the day of our session and such a good baby!!!

Congrats K family on your new addition. He’s just perfect!!! Thank you so much for letting me do his first photos. It was my pleasure!!!

I can’t even begin to explain how much I love the people I work with. Every single one of these sessions was a blast and the families are just incredible.

I’m about to get all blabby and emotional, so I’ll just let you get to the photos….

Miss H was one of my best friends in junior high and high school. It’s so exciting to see her expecting her first little one.

This little darling baby girl was such a good sleeper!!! She konked out right at the beginning of the session and was absolutely wonderful to work with.

She put up with me putting a cute little tutu and headband on her for her fun girly girl photos. Most babies wouldn’t tolerate such a thing, but she did awesome.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks between seniors, new babies, engagement sessions, a wedding, and all the other crazy stuff I do. I’m finally caught up on editing, but WAY behind on posting these beautiful life’s moments.

The hubster and I are finally taking a weekend off (no sessions for me, and no work for him). I think it’s been about six months since we’ve had an uneventful, non-working weekend. I’m going to “un-plug” and do crazy things like watch television for hours on end and read for a change.

I have been looking forward to my weekend off for the past month. WHOOT!!!!!!!

SOOOOOO, I’ll be back to my regular blogging schedule come Monday and Tuesday (so keep checking back then!).

This sweet baby was absolute perfection for her session. She was only four days old (and though I didn’t photograph her mama, she looked AMAZING for just having a baby).

Speaking of baby girls, I just found out I’m getting a NIECE!!!!!!!!!! Yup, had to throw that one out there since I’m soooooo excited. My big brother (by 18 months) and his wife are expecting their first baby and just found out yesterday that “there are no boy parts!” Yay for fun frilly things and me getting off the hook for having another one. Of course hubby said “but it’s not OURS!” (he wants another baby girl so bad but I’m a little too busy with kiddos as it is). I won’t lie, he’s wearing me down. He’s now cooking and doing all the dishes… hard to resist such an awesome hubster.

Okay, back to this baby….. SUPER CUTE, perfect, love love love love newborn sessions.

This little mister was just over a week old and “as cute as a bug’s ear” (that’s what my dad always used to say when something was super cute).

He was a good little sleeper and we were able to get a good variety of photos. It’s funny how I try so hard to get them to go to sleep yet the wide awake shots are sometimes my favorites. To get a newborn baby looking without crossed eyes is a feat in itself.

I can’t get over how many new babies there have been lately!!! How exciting!!

Little miss K was a fighter, but we wore her out and she finally fell blissfully asleep. People always think that I have some magic touch with getting babies to sleep, but honestly it’s a lot of time and patience (and making baby comfy). Miss K was simply perfect.

Taking photos of precious little newborn girls is sure not helping me decide not to have any more kiddos.

This little angel slept for THREE hours during our session. He was a one in a million baby and I could have photographed him all day!!! He’s the youngest of four kids and fits right in, I’m sure.

This little guy was an absolute dream baby!!!

He hardly fussed and slept almost the whole time. According to his parents, he’s a pretty calm little guy. He only fusses when he’s messy or hungry (boy did they get lucky).

It’s no secret that newborns are my favorite subjects. I think it’s because my three are all out of the baby stage now and it’s so precious to hold a new baby and photograph them. This stage goes by so quickly and as a parent you don’t quite realize it until they’rebigger. Photos are the only way to freeze that time.

Okay, okay, I won’t get all emotional about photos and how much they mean to me. I’ll save that sob story for later.

This little guy is the baby from this gorgeous mama. He’s the fourth baby in this adorable family. His older siblings are simply perfect and he fits right in. This little peanut was an absolute doll. She slept almost the whole time and was a perfect angel. She was 13 days old when I captured these photos a few days ago. She was a tiny little munckin at birth and she’s doing a great job eating and getting those cute little baby rolls. We did the session at my studio in Kelso. Having the new space is such a dream come true and so far every session I’ve done there has turned out great! While we were there, my dad came over to put up my new backdrop holders and helped me finish the studio area. I am SOOOOO close to being finished and I’ll be taking pics of it tonight!!!

My step-sister Lynsay just had her first baby a couple of weeks ago. I got to take some photos at the hospital for them, but we finally had his first “official” newborn session this last week. He was an absolute perfect model for his aunty. He slept for a good couple of hours and I was able to get a bunch of great photos of him. He’s already model material. We talked about it before he was born so he would be prepared for his crazy auntie who takes lots of pictures. He didn’t seem to mind me much. Thank goodness!!

{12 days} Newborn photography in Kelso, WA

This beautiful family came to my studio from Vader, Washington. It’s just a few miles up the freeway from my new studio in Kelso. I’m not quite moved in to the new space yet. After I finish some final touches, I will post some photos of it. I’m hoping to be done within a week or so, but with all the details, I’m not promising anything!

For this session we met at the local park near my studio and started with some fun outdoor shots. If I haven’t mentioned a million times already, I LOVE newborn sessions. They are among my absolute favorite to photograph. Little man “R” was an absolute perfect baby for me and we got a lot of great photos. I couldn’t resist sharing more than my usual.

After our outdoor session we headed back to the studio for some more photos. Since the weather is turning a bit cooler, we didn’t want to do the entire session outdoors. Don’t worry, we kept him nice and warm outside!!

These little guys were born 7 weeks early after their mom was on bed rest for a few months. The babies were in the NICU for 6 weeks and finally came home a couple of weeks ago. At one point in the pregnancy the doctors didn’t think that baby “N” would survive (he’s the one in green).

Just listening to the story of how “N” survived against all odds made me tear up. I can’t even imagine going through all those struggles and not knowing whether or not my babies would make it.

But here they are as healthy and strong as they can be! They are both perfect in every way.

Thank you for a wonderful session. These little guys melted my heart.

They kept humming and singing to each other as they were falling asleep. It was the most precious thing.

Sweet Baby “P” – Vancouver, WA newborn photographer

Baby “P” is just eight weeks old. She’s one of the cutest little things I’ve ever seen! Her hair sticks straight up and her mom says it’s curly when it’s wet, but her hair has a mind of it’s own.

I absolutely love being an on location photographer because I get a different session every single time I come to a new location. Their house is incredibly gorgeous and the light was just perfect when I got there. I immediately knew I wanted a photo of them on the porch as soon as I drove up. The house was built in 1889 and was recently completely restored.

Of course had to get photos of their other babies. Meet Sherman and Wendy. Sherman became my best buddy during our session. He was seriously one of the coolest dogs I’ve ever met.

Precious baby “T” – Longview, WA newborn photography

This precious little chunker is almost ten pounds and only three weeks old. His mama is a petite little thing, so it’s amazing he’s as big as he is. She is a hair stylist at Eclectic Styles where I get my hair done by Shae who also works there. They work miracles at that salon.

Seriously.

Anyone looking for a good stylist should check them out.

(I don’t get any kick backs for saying that, so you know I’m telling the truth!)

I really love doing newborn sessions. It’s so much fun chatting with the moms and getting to hold and photograph beautiful little babies.It seems there’s quite the baby boom going on with all these gorgeous newborns I’ve been photographing lately. I’m having a blast!!

That’s what boys are made of….

Mr. J was a delight to photograph. I got the pleasure of photographing him last week. These are the sweetest moments and they pass all too quickly. It was just a year ago that my little guy was born. I’m not ready to have another, so I’m thankful that lately I’ve been getting to borrow sweet little babies so I can photograph them. They are just too precious. I think I’d have a dozen if it weren’t for the whole laundry thing…

I also did a few photos of Mr. J’s big sister while Mr. J was eating. She was dressed in her princess attire and I don’t think I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing such a beautiful princess. She totally stole my heart.
