Arizona, baby.

My dear friend flew me down to Arizona so I could capture her baby’s first photos. We made a vacation out of it and had an absolute blast. It was so nice to see a good friend and enjoy the warm sun for a few days. I went to college in Arizona for a short time before getting together with my hubby. This was the first time I had been back in ten years. And WHOA, it had changed so much. Still nice and sunny, which I wish Washington was. Especially lately since it seems like it’s rained non-stop for months.

This session was completely unlike any other. In style, in my processing. It was so much fun to try new things and enjoy capturing moments. I used to only do on location work for years until I got my studio. Since getting my studio I’ve done most of my newborn sessions there. This session REALLY made me miss location work. I think I will try to do more sessions in home since it’s just so personal and so much fun!!

I also was lucky enough to photograph another little guy while I was there!!! His mama is my good friends’ cousin and they were absolutely wonderful to meet and work with.

I have a confession to make.

I loathe most normal boring family photos. I take them quite often and I have them displayed of my own family around my house. Not that there’s anything bad about these photos, it’s just…

Boring.

What I REALLY love is the moments between families that aren’t perfect. Real smiles, comfortable clothing, and lots of laughter. I love the moments that make you smile or even cry. The REAL moments in life. I love the photos that are perfectly imperfect.

I had the pleasure of photographing a family this last week that wanted those moments of laughter and playing. Of course we took plenty of “normal” photos (and those are always great too), but in this post I’m going to show you moments that I captured that I love.

This was one of those sessions that I loved so much I wish it was my own family in the photos.

Terrific twos and the K family – Family photography in Longview WA

This little darling totally made my day on friday. She was the cutest lil thing!! Her parents dressed her in the most adorable fall outfit with these cute little bows. After a couple of weeks with working with seniors it was sure fun to chase around a two year old.

This little gal is so full of life, adventurous and a blast to photograph. We had a fun little adventure wondering around the gardens.

We met up at the Asian Gardens at Lake Sacajawea here in Longview. It’s one of the most popular spots to photograph and for good reason. It’s just gorgeous over there. If you ever get a chance to take a walk around it, I highly recommend it!
