I wish more women celebrated amazing life changes. We don’t often commemorate things in our life unless it’s senior photos or a new baby. I think every woman needs fabulous photos just like these of themselves.

Even if it’s for no reason at all.

Life is just too serious most of the time so one of my favorite things to photograph is laughter. Even better when it’s two beautiful people in love who know how to laugh and enjoy each other’s company. I’m photographing their wedding in late summer and I cannot WAIT.  They were absolutely hysterical and fun to work with. You can see the love (and laughter) in these photos.

He loves the color red, the superhero Flash, baseball, and golf. He’s learning how to read and is amazingly gifted in math. He’s 100% in every thing he does (good or bad). I love this little guy and am so grateful to be his mama.

We then ventured on to Voodoo Donuts where they enjoyed the famous “bacon maple” donut. It’s a maple bar with a slice of bacon on top. Seriously YUMMY!!! I bought a box of donuts myself to take home to the kiddos. They were pretty excited to have donuts with cereal on top.

And finally we ended up at the waterfront as the sun set down. It couldn’t have been more fun or more perfect.

I know during difficult times photos are often the last things we think of spending money on, but yet it’s during tough times that we realize how important our family truly is. Photos are how we are able to freeze moments in time, how we’re able to remember our little babies being so small. Photos are how we can better remember certain times in our lives.

So without making things too complicated, please send me an email nominating someone you think deserves a free session. The person who I select will get a signature session plus $500 in prints and/or digital files.

Erika and Aeren were absolutely perfect to work with. We got REALLY lucky and got a beautiful gorgeous day on the day of their wedding. We got plenty of time to go out by the water and get some absolutely stunning photos of the two of them. I seriously can’t even describe how excited I was for some of these shots. I know I get overly excited, but the wind and the weather were just perfect. SWOON. I know, I know… I’m a total nerd.

Okay enough of the chitter chatter, here’s some favorites of the day!!!

So that’s me turning thirty. I’m cool with it all.

Today is Declan’s fourth birthday. I seriously cannot believe he is four. He was JUST born yesterday, wasn’t he??? We had an all green birthday party for him. He only wears green colored clothing and loves all things green. It was based around green lantern, but mommy went all out and had green cake, green chips, green veggies, etc, etc. It was a very fun time!! Today he took cupcakes to school and was so proud to finally be one of the “big four year olds.” I love that little guy. He’s the comedian in the family and no matter how stressful a day has been, he keeps us laughing. He is totally awesome and I’m grateful that I can be his mama.

So here’s the latest pic of me. My daughter says I look mysterious and  like I’m ‘up to no good’ in this photo. Oh well, I don’t have many photos of me since I’m behind the camera most of the time. I was setting up for a session and did some self portraits to test light. All of the smiling ones were HORRID so this is the best I’ve got for now.

And my sweet mister D. I love him so very much and he makes me smile constantly!!!

The ceremony and reception was at the Fort George Brewery in Astoria, Oregon.  Holy smokes what an AWESOME venue. We had rain the first hour for formal photos which led to some pretty amazing, creative shots. God was listening to my prayers for a break in the weather and we got some amazing outdoor photos as well.

I could NOT have done this without my amazing second shooter Amanda Wilson (She rocks!!!!!) Some of these fantastic images are by her.

Here’s a few recent sessions that I couldn’t help but share.

I have so many people calling in mid-December wondering about Christmas pics and the deadline has come and gone already. November is the best time for photos to be back in time for cards or presents.

So I’m having a little session special for everyone to enjoy. The digital images are full resolution so you can make Christmas cards out of them, make prints for gifts for friends and family, share them on Facebook, or email them to family far away. Wow, I already sound like an infomercial.

She is our newest addition to the family. We debated on having a fourth child, but decided that a puppy is just perfect for our family. My kids’ first names start with the letters K.I.D (in that order) and I always said I’d have an “S” if we had a fourth baby, so hence the name Sydney. Well, that and she’s a toy Australian Shepherd, so it was just perfect.

She is nine and a half weeks old today. We’re in the potty training/chewing phase, but we love every minute of it (well, almost every minute of it. LOL).

In other news: My hubby has officially quit his day job and is going to school full time starting in two weeks. Our family will have a college student, a 4th grader, a Kindergartner, and a preschooler. It’s gonna be crazy around here for the next few years but we’re super excited for the transition. We’ve planned on this for many years and it’s finally all come into place. I will be resuming work as usual. I’ll probably take on a bit more sessions here and there but business will still be very much the same. I’ve been so incredibly blessed to be as busy as I am. There are many many photographers out there and I’m so grateful when I am chosen to be the photographer for my client’s important milestones.

I am grateful and blessed beyond words.

Let me tell you it was AWESOME!!! I had absolutely no idea how much is at the port. I spent a good full day learning all about what they do there and taking photos. They strive to only use photos taken at the port itself for all their marketing and ad campaigns. I was able to photograph a huge variety of stuff and they have plans for me to come back later this summer. My contact at the Port has been amazing to work with and I’m flattered to have been a part of the project!!!

They also did a huge billboard along Tenant way here in Longview using one of my images. To have one of my photos on a BILLBOARD. Whoa. I was pretty darn excited. As a photog, getting images in magazines and billboards is like what famous photogs do. It’s an awesome feeling.

This session was completely unlike any other. In style, in my processing. It was so much fun to try new things and enjoy capturing moments. I used to only do on location work for years until I got my studio. Since getting my studio I’ve done most of my newborn sessions there. This session REALLY made me miss location work. I think I will try to do more sessions in home since it’s just so personal and so much fun!!

I also was lucky enough to photograph another little guy while I was there!!!  His mama is my good friends’ cousin and they were absolutely wonderful to meet and work with.

I think I get just as emotional as their parents when they come in again and I feel like it was yesterday that we did their first photos.  Sniff sniff.

This little man I’ve photographed since he was six days old. He melts my heart and makes me smile. I ADORE him. I’d even claim him as my own if I could.

Though it’s my super “slow” time, I’m ten times busier this year in January than I was even a year ago. I cannot believe how busy you all have kept me. THANK YOU for still having me do what I love so much even when the weather turns yucky.

In other news:

I’ve been working on a 365 project where I take on photo every day for 365 days. It’s my own personal project and so far I’ve completed ten days (I still have to do today’s photo). I’ve had so much fun stretching myself to take an interesting photo that has nothing to do with my “normal” work. My own rules say that it has to be personal and tell a bit of a story. I took this photo when I was trying a self portrait for one of the days.

I’ll share more of my personal project photos once I complete a whole month.

I’ve been doing studio work for a few years now and have been in my studio location for a year and a half.

I have grown to LOVE it.

This session totally and completely confirmed that I could get REAL personality with a group of kids and teens in studio. They all had so much personality and made me really realize how much I can do against a simple backdrop with just a couch.

I upgraded to a newer version of my site so it’s kinda different but still sort of the same. Yay for change!!!

So how on earth do I write about the most amazing wedding?? I guess I’ll give you some back story. Since it’s my blog, I suppose I can ‘keep it real’ and give you my story.

Let’s back up about six months.

My dad was single. He had started to settle into a bachelor life and was happy spending time with his hobbies and playing with his grandkids. Then one day out of the blue he came over and said he wanted to chat. Now, I’m not gonna lie, I kinda freaked out and wondered what had happened. He had that strange serious look about him that made me think something was wrong. So we sat down with some coffee (our usual) and he began to ask what I thought about a particular gal he knew. When he mentioned her name he had this grin and a sparkle in his eye so I KNEW how he felt about her. I immediately squealed  “I LIKE HER  and you should date her!!!”  He laughed and we continued the conversation.

Let me back up a bit farther. My dad had a best friend for over twenty years. Six years ago he passed away after a car accident. It was really hard on his family and of course my dad. I had known them since I was really small and even babysat their kids.

The gal he was talking about was his best friends widow. And let me tell you she is PERFECT!!!

My dad found out that she had feelings for him through a mutual friend and he was asking me what I thought. Being the romantic that I am, I told him to call her and ask her to go to coffee or on a date with him. Not two hours later, I found out that he had called her and she had invited him over. He was as giddy as giddy can be and it was so fun to watch.

Fast forward a month later and they got engaged. A few months later was the wedding. They roll like my hubby and I. (we got engaged after six weeks and married a few months later. hehe)

There is so much more to this story that I don’t even have the writing skills to explain. Here’s the main theme. My dad and Pam are perfect for each other. Like seriously two peas in a pod perfect!!! I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that God brought them together. All of the pieces of every detail were practically laid out in front of them.

So Pam has four daughters, who are now my new sisters. My family is COMPLETELY ginormous now. Like huge. We won’t even begin to explain how many people I’m now related to on my side of the family and my husband’s side of the family or we would be here all night. In fact, if you’re still reading all of this instead of skipping to the photos, I seriously applaud you. I’m not a writer at all, so this is huge for me.

Anyhoo,

Husband and Wife were married in their backyard and they will live happily ever after!!

Their wedding was absolutely gorgeous at the Indian Summer Golf Resort in Olympia, WA. Every detail was simply perfect and her dress and SHOES. Oh my goodness the shoes. Amazing. (yes, little details like awesome shoes catch my attention!!).

Enough of my small talk… here’s the pics!!!!

The reality of it is, this little guy is a miracle. Every day he is with us is a miracle. He was born with a rare genetic defect and his immune system is pretty low. He spends a lot of time in and out of the hospital.

Yet despite his struggles he is so full of joy.

I learned so much from this little guy. No matter what, Live EVERY day to it’s fullest.

They are the nicest, sweetest people and I was thrilled that they even wanted me to photograph their brand new little guy. He was beyond perfect for our session. I can easily say that it was my best newborn session to date!!

We stayed down there for four days and even went to Disneyland for a day without kids (guilt? you betcha.  But SOOOOOOO much fun!!!).  Extra bonus was staying with Derrick’s aunt and uncle that we rarely see and getting to know them better.

Their ceremony was at St. Rose Church here in Longview. They had a pizza place from Seattle come to cater the reception. Let me tell you future brides, THAT was the coolest idea ever. It was amazing and oh sooooo yummy.

Between the beautiful church, the details, the fun reception, and two wonderful people getting married, I’d say it was a perfect day.

Sessions are only for dates listed. I can add additional dates if you get a group of three or more to do mini’s back to back (email me for more info).

Mini’s are for up to 6 people. They can be for a family, kids, engagement, babies, or high school senior. If in the case of bad weather, the mini-sessions will be held in studio.

Non-refundable $100 retainer fee is required at booking. Fee goes towards package price and final balance is due at the time of the session.

I’m getting ready to photograph my dad’s wedding in a couple of hours so I don’t have time to talk about how wonderful all these sessions were, but figured those of you who have been waiting to see these pics wouldn’t mind if I was not as talkative today.

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am about these photos. My extremely talented friend, Rebecca of Catchlights Northwest took our photos a few weeks ago. I am amazed, thrilled, and excited about these images. They are everything I wanted them to be and I’ve already pre-ordered four 20X24 canvases to go on my walls.

Thank you a million times over for photographing my family and being so wonderful.

We photographed them at the Astoria Column, downtown Astoria, and on the pier in Astoria.

(Hubby and I stayed at the Commodore Hotel which is new and AWESOME by the way!!!)

I wish I could explain in words how wonderful this all was. So since my writing skills aren’t that great, here are the photos…

And yes, you’re seeing this correctly, her dress was blue!!! It was absolutely stunning and matched Byron’s uniform just perfectly!

They had their wedding rings custom made just for them. The rope is from a piece of the cord that is used by the US coast guard. Tiffanie studies birds (sorry I don’t know the technical term) so Byron drew these birds and they had them engraved on the side of her ring.

How cool is that??!!!!

the one to the left reminds me of a heart. The way the trees cover over them, the way their bodies are. I can’t explain it, but I love this one!!

we considered going to the top of the column, but there were just way too many people. If you look close you can see them all looking down at the bride and groom!

The Baked Alaska’s food was so good that Derrick and I ate there twice while we were staying in Astoria!!

They’re wedding was July 24th, 2010 and I was quite the lucky gal to photograph them along with my super awesome second shooter, Elena (thanks girl, you ROCK as usual!!)

The details were incredible and you could tell that the bride and groom put a lot of thought into their special day. Flower arrangements were by Banda’s Bouquets, and the cake was made by the Bride’s mom. Catering was provided by Hoffstadt Bluffs and I’m not sure on the other details.

Oh and her shoes were amazing. Check them out. Seriously brides, bright shoes are where it’s at!!!

Here’s a sneaky peak of her session…

My older brother (my only blood sibling, older by 18 months) and his wife, miss Natalie had their first baby on August 29th, 2010. I was photographing a wedding when I got the news that I was an auntie to one beautiful little girl. I cried when I heard the news!!!!

Because I’m so far behind in posting, I hadn’t even posted their maternity session yet, but I figured I’d do it now and introduce the prettiest little girl I’ve ever seen (other than my own!).

I’ll be doing their first “regular” newborn session next week, so I’m sure I’ll be back showing her off a little bit more

Their wedding is in May and I’m the lucky gal who gets to document their big day!! We did their engagement session at their property where the wedding will be held. They’ve been renovating this old barn in preparation for the big day. It’s just perfect and I love how they incorporated it into their engagement session. SO MUCH FUN!!!
