Because I’m completely and utterly biased towards my sweet little girl and I think she’s the prettiest thing ever.

I got my first camera when she was born almost eight years ago.

She’s still my muse.

I took these at a family barbeque. I probably would have dressed her in nicer jeans had I planned on doing a session with her.

{3 years and 18 days} Longview family photography

This little three year old girl became a big sister just 18 days prior to this photo session. They are both the most beautiful little girls and their parents are pretty good lookin as well.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing them OUTSIDE last week. Yes, I said outside. It’s a wonderful feeling, being outdoors again. I finally felt like I was “home” after all these months cooped up in the studio. It was a perfect day and I had a perfect family to photograph.

We finished the newborn portion of the session in the studio, of course, since it was about 50 degrees outdoors and getting baby to sleep outside just wasn’t going to happen on a day like that day. The adventure outdoors wore her out and we got lots of beautiful sleepy shots inside.

Thank you so much for letting me capture your memories. I truly love my job.

I don’t know why I love this one so much, but I do!

These little girls were absolutely perfect. When the mom called asking about a twin newborn session, I jumped up for joy!!! I figured it would be a challenge dealing with two little ones, but they were actually easier than my single newborn sessions!! It was the perfect session and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. K for having me photograph your precious little girls. It was truly an honor!

I LOVE this family.

Okay, well it’s probably because they’re family of ours. Mr. R is my hubby’s cousin. He’s the brother to this beautiful bride.

They live in Nashville, TN and came all the way to have me photograph them!! HAHA kidding. I’m not that cool.They came for Christmas but I got to steal them away to do a session. This is the first time I’ve gotten to meet their newest addition. He’s now four months old and the cutest little thing. He was a really good sport about having his photos done. He didn’t even fuss once!!!

Thanks R family for putting up with me. I sure enjoyed hanging out with you guys and I can’t wait to see you for our family Christmas get-together!!

Yes, I know you’ve all been waiting for me to post pictures. I’ve posted a few on facebook the last couple of weeks, but none with a “real” camera. I’m still not *quite* done yet (few minor touches here and there) but overall it’s just about finished.

I’ve already had five newborn sessions in the studio and it’s been completely amazing to have all of my props handy. It’s also been really nice for client meetings and ordering appointments.

I’m so excited to finally have a place of my own!!! I’m still doing 90% of my sessions on location (so no worries folks, lemondrops is staying the same!). It’ll be nice to have a place to do sessions in case the weather is bad, or for newborn, kids, and the occasionally family session.

I will be having an open house sometime in the next few weeks. I haven’t finalized a date yet, but I will keep you posted when I do so you can come see the new place!!

Thanks so much for all the well wishes, prayers, and encouragement. I honestly feel like it’s a dream coming true!!!!

You might notice a few things that are different around here if you’re used to coming to my site. I’ve completely changed my logo and I’ve added a new background paper.

This whole change has been in the works for quite some time. I needed a fresh look and something that reflected my style a bit better.

Paul and Rachel tied the knot on June 6th, 2009 at The Community Church here in Longview, Washington. They had a romantic candle lit ceremony and were surrounded by their friends and family. You could tell they were both totally excited to be getting married. It was a beautiful wedding and every detail was absolutely perfect.

My Grandma LOVES purple. So when I saw this flower, I immediately thought of her. She wears purple, has a purple car and even had my uncle paint her house purple!

She reads my blog almost daily and is one of my biggest fans. Her heart is made of gold and she’s always doing volunteer work to help other people. Whether it’s putting together dental kits for kids in need or making Norwegian goodies for people, she’s always up to something.

Last year she was diagnosed with lung cancer and after many months of radiation treatments, she won the battle and is now cancer free. She’s such a strong and amazing woman.

I love you very much, Grandma!!!!!!

Kyle – Kelso High Senior 2009

This guy is cool.

(Is cool even cool to say anymore? I don’t know. I’m getting old)

Anyway, Kyle has some awesome hobbies. He’s got motorcycles, skateboarding (long boards), four wheelers, and cars.

We did his senior photos out in Rose Valley at some pretty cool locations. We knew for sure we wanted pics of him with his motorcycle in the middle of the road, so we made sure to find a spot with very low traffic . I’m always about safety around here. After all, my hubby is the safety director at his work. If he knew I was operating in unsafe conditions, I’d be in trouble

I love music as much as I love photography. In fact, music was a huge part in my life before the photography bug bit me. When I was a kid I dreamed of being on Broadway in New York. I even went to school to be a high school theater teacher when I decided New York was too far away.My life has ended up different than I imagined, but I have no regrets. I still sing for our Church’s worship team once a month. I also sing really loud in my car. My family even tells me to “keep it quiet” once in awhile.

Just please don’t ask to see those videos of me acting… it’s a scary sight.

Baby “G” is one already!!

It seems like yesterday I was doing his newborn photos. He came over for his “smash the cake” session and cracked us up with his anger towards the cake. He was totally fine eating the cake, but at first he didn’t know what to think. The last one on the storyboard is my absolute favorite.

I think it was a very successful cake smashing session. Next week baby G and I are going to do his big boy outdoor photos.

“Noonels” is going to be 14 months next week. The other two were fighting so I stole him as my test subject for my new camera.

Yes, I upgraded!

I’m extremely excited about the new possibilities that await. This photo was taken at ISO 1000. For all you non-photographers that means that I was able to take this photo without flash, in very low light. He was sitting on the floor in my kitchen with only the regular overhead light. Very little noise. With my other camera this photo would look bad. I would have chosen to use flash to make for a more pleasing portrait.

What does this all mean, Jenica?

This means that I am now more equipped to handle low lighting situations. I have a whole summer of weddings ahead of me and it’s going to be even better now that this new camera is here.

So yay for new tools!!!

Introducing mini sessions!!!

In response to a lot of requests, I’m now introducing mini sessions!

Mini sessions are shorter sessions that only last up to 30 minutes instead of the 1-2 hours I usually spend. Only 10-15 proofs are shown instead 30-40. It’s perfect for a kid session or a quick family portrait. It’s also a great economical way to get custom portraits without spending as much.

For mini sessions you have your choice of either Lake Sacajawea or Willow Grove beach for your session. Mini sessions are only held during the week.

Mini sessions are priced at $40. Please contact me today to schedule your mini session!

*when doing a family mini session, individual photos won’t be taken. For seniors, only one clothing change is allowed.

My middle son’s nickname is “Tinker.” It’s short for stinker.

His true passion is baseball (and football, and soccer, and anything and everything to do with a ball and throwing). Tinker often gets into trouble playing ball in the house and hitting brother and sister with whatever ball he has. It’s an ongoing battle we have with him, but I’m hoping to channel that energy into something more positive. So on Friday before play group I took him to the local ball field to let off some steam doing what he does best. With the baby strapped to my back and a camera in hand, I let Tinker do his thing.

As a mom of a young impressionable girl this video really hit home. Self esteem issues affect almost every woman I know. I battled with an eating disorder while in high school and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I became okay with how God made me. I’m one of the few women I know that is okay with herself. Most every friend of mine wishes they could be smaller, stronger, faster, weigh twenty pounds less, have a smaller nose, etc, etc, etc. Sure there are things we all wish we could change, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter. I want Miss K to grow up happy with herself. I don’t ever want her to feel as though she’s not good enough. I hated my body and couldn’t stand the site of myself in a mirror. I figured it out much later that it was because I was taught there was only one kind of beauty (and I was not that kind). It’s sad to think about how many women feel that way about themselves.

So for all you gals reading this

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST AS GOD MADE YOU!

I met the R family out in Kelso for a fun (and REALLY cold) family portrait session. They are old family friends and Mrs. R is quite the photographer herself. We have traveled the world together as our husbands were both in the Army together. We were stationed in South Korea at the same time as well as in Hawaii. My middle son (mr. I) is 10 days older than her oldest daughter Miss N. My tiniest son (mr. D) is 8 days older than her Miss K. How weird is that?!!!

We’ve already decided it’s going to be a pre-arranged marriage for both of them since we already like the in-laws. Mr. I kept talking about Miss N, so we think they might decide to get married on their own anyway. Wishful thinking, right?!!

Anyway, they were adorable and quite the troopers when the temperature was only 20 degrees outside. Thank goodness for hot chocolate bribes

I had the pleasure of photographing the “G” family at their home in Rose Valley in Kelso. They perfectly coordinated their clothes and looked fabulous! I love when families dress similar but aren’t matchy matchy. Kids wearing matching clothes are cute but I personally don’t care for it when the mom, dad, and kids wear the exact same santa sweater (weirds me out). Okay, anyway… this family was perfect!

The “C” family – lifestyle family photography in Longview Washington

A few days ago I did a lifestyle session for the “C” family at their house and then we went to a tree farm. It was a full service U-pick tree farm complete with Santa Clause and hot chocolate. It was so fun to be able to capture this time with them. We had quite the adventure hiking around trying to find that “perfect” tree.

I first photographed little baby “b” when he was just a month old. Some of you might remember my favorite photo of him all wrapped up on their couch. He’s the cutest little guy. He’s grown so much in the past few months it’s amazing. He’s now six months and cute as ever.

We went out to my brother and sister-in-laws place for a lazy Sunday afternoon. My kiddos had a blast playing on their property. They picked flowers and played in the leaves. Declan got to crawl around on the gravel – he thought that was pretty cool. It was unusually warm for November (and not to mention dry) so I decided to snap some outdoor pics of the kids. I think they tolerated me fairly well this time since I haven’t bugged them for photos since Halloween. I didn’t get any smiles from Mr. I, but at least he would look at me without crying. In hindsight I should have tried to get a pic of them together.I think my kids will be the only kids in the history of the world with more photos of them individually than of them together…

Studio Photos – The “G” kids

I met the G family at their house in Kelso for an in-home studio session. Normally I do outdoor photos for kids over six months, but after three days of non-stop rain, it just wasn’t going to happen! So we set up shop in their living room.

It was crazy trying to wrangle the three of them to get photos, but amazingly we managed. They seemed to have a good time, even though I tortured them with goofy faces and crazy sounds. All in all I think it was a success!

“Just hanging around” – The G family

This family was full of laughs and full of fun. I met up with them at the usual spot at Lake Sacajawea here in Longview. We originally planned on meeting up at Silverlake in Castle Rock, WA, but the weather had other plans. We almost got rained out, but we managed to sneak in a session in-between rain showers. It worked out perfectly.

The G family was great to photograph. Their kids are hysterical. Their little boy is just a few weeks older than my Little D-man. He was so cute!! Their little girl’s spit fire personality reminded me of my middle guy. She was hysterical and always trying to get me to laugh.

Fitch/Hanson Wedding – super quick sneak peak

I wanted to give a quick sneak peak of the wedding from last Saturday, October 25th, 2008. The wedding took place at the Red Lion Hotel here in Kelso, WA. It was absolutely gorgeous and the bride and groom are such a beautiful couple. We did the formal photos out at Tam-O-Shanter park.

I will post more on Monday, but I gotta take my kiddos trick or treating tonight. Getting Mr. I into his costume without crying is gonna be a difficult task Poor little kid is afraid of his own costume. I should have made him a bunny instead of a lion, I guess.

I finally got a smile!!!

So a lot of you who know my son, know that he is the most difficult child to photograph. He’s two, going on three here in March and I have maybe three decent smiling pics of him from the last year. Well, friday night he decided that for a split second he would look straight into the camera and give mom a really nice smile.

He’s going through one of those two year old phases where everything is “no” and “I don’t want to.” My sister who babysits him while I work has to deal with his uncooperative behavior a few times a week. It’s a tough time and I’m hoping he grows out of it. Between that and the tantrums, he’s gonna cause me some grey hairs. Though when he says things like “I’m sorry mama…” it melts my heart and turns me into a big pile of mush. He can be the sweetest little boy and at the same time be the biggest stinker. I love him sooooo very much…

The D Family – lifestyle session

I met this family out at Willow Grove beach out in Longview. They were so happy and fun!! I had a really good time shooting and editing these. Just looking at them made me smile.

Their little boys were full of energy. They were hilarious to work with. Every time we’d try to get photos of the two boys together, they’d either run away or they’d refuse to look at me. It was quite funny!

In a “lifestyle” session I pose a little bit, but allow families to interact with each other so I can get those “real” moments. I LOVE the laughing, smiling photos more than anything else. I do formal stuff, but sessions like these are my favorite. It’s fun to capture people’s real personalities and see how they interact with each other.

Mr. “M” – Kelso High Senior 2009

I met this young man in Downtown Kalama for his Senior photos. He’s a Kelso High student (go Highlanders!!). We had a great time wondering around the ally ways and the different areas in downtown Kalama. I hadn’t had a session there before, so it was a lot of fun for me. I really enjoy when seniors choose new locations. It forces me to be creative and I end up glad I didn’t get stuck in a rut.

I had a lot of fun being creative with this session. Even my processing is a bit more edgy. I’m wanting to do more and more “urban” sessions like this.

He was quite the character and the last shot is for his friends at the pool. He’s a lifeguard (and a swimmer) so he wanted to have some goofy photos.

and finally, my awesome reflector holder/assistant/husband who helped me out with this session. He was a HUGE help. I’m trying to convince him to help me with every session, but he’s not so sure….

I met this gorgeous gal out at Riverside Park in Longview. It was a perfect overcast day!! She was a great gal to work with. We had a good time scouting out locations to shoot at. I’ve never photographed out at Riverside before and it was an awesome place. I’ll have to add it to my list of locations to shoot at.

I’m really enjoying photographing seniors this year. I’ve met the nicest bunch of young adults. They’re all so beautiful too. I’ll be sad when the winter comes and I won’t get to photograph them as much.

I met this awesome family in Longview out at Lake Sacajawea for their family portraits. It was a crazy, busy, and fun-filled time. The kiddos are exactly like mine, except the oldest daughter is just a bit younger than my Miss K. It was quite the challenge to get them all looking at the camera at the same time. Now I know how my sister-in-law felt when she was photographing my family!!

I love how they coordinated the blues without being matchy. It was PERFECT!!! They’re such a beautiful, loving family. It was a joy to photograph them.

is my two front teeth!!!!

My little girl lost her top tooth the day before yesterday. She was so excited and she kept running around singing the song. She lost her bottom teeth before summer, but had her permanent teeth grow in behind them so she never had a gap in her smile. This is her first time having a space in her teeth, so she is excited. She also gets her name on the “lost a tooth” board in her classroom at school.

She actually asked me if I would take her picture. I think that’s a first!!!

I had the pleasure of photographing this gorgeous young lady from Richfield High School. We met up in Woodland, WA at the Horseshoe Lake Park near downtown Woodland. The location was perfect. We met up in the early hours and got all sorts of beautiful fog over the water. I haven’t been there since Derrick and I had engagement pictures done there eight years ago (my how time flies). We found all sorts of fun places to photograph and she was such a good model for me. We even ventured into downtown Woodland and made spectacles of ourselves photographing and posing near the main street! It was pretty fun!!

I met Katie in downtown Longview for her high school senior pics. She is a stunning young lady. Her eyes are absolutely gorgeous and I can’t get over what a pretty gal she is!!

We had a blast running around the back alley ways and seeing what cool spots we could find for photos. It’s amazing what you can find if you just walk around town for a little while. The weather was absolutely perfect. Not too sunny, not rainy.

It was one of those days where I LOVE what I do. Seniors are an absolute favorite of mine to photograph.

I met this family at their gorgeous home in Kelso. Their backyard was the perfect backdrop for photos. We met up early on Saturday morning and everything went well. Their daughter Miss M was the most well- behaved little one I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She completely amazed me!!!

Their dog was also really cool. She actually looked at the camera (a rarity with family pets). She was so fun and energetic. I love when families add their dogs into the photos. It’s so neat having the entire family together. It makes me wish I would have brought my doggie to our family session last week. Nina would have been so cute running around with the kiddos. Oh well.. maybe next year I’ll remember.

While at a family session in Kelso today I had a break while they were changing, so I took a moment to take some photos of these gorgeous flowers. The family had the most beautiful backyard and I could have spent all day photographing there.

Flowers aren’t something I normally photograph but it was nice to do something different for a change. I’m constantly in awe of the beautiful things that God has created. One of the reasons I love being a photographer is I am able to try to capture that beauty (even if only a small part of it).

These flower photos are for my bestest best friend, Angie. I miss her dearly and am sad that she lives so far away. I love you my long lost cousin. Hope to see you soon!!

My favoritest family. This is my sister -in-law and her family (our husbands are brothers). I met them out at Willow Grove for a family session on Sunday night. Willow Grove beach is one of my new favorite places to photograph. There’s so many wonderful places out there. We had such a blast together. Family session in Centralia…

I met up with a fellow photographer to do her families’ photos up in Centralia, Washington. It was a quick and fairly easy commute for me. She wanted pics of her and her family before her brother went away in the military (and they hadn’t had pics done in four years together.). I know what it’s like to not have photos when you’re always behind the camera. I have my family session this next Monday and I’m excited to finally have a pic of the five of us together. We don’t even have a single snapshot of us all together.

Anyhoo… this family was a hoot. I can’t believe how much fun they were. Normally when I do older families I get a good maybe twenty minutes with them. This time they were willing to do whatever. They were incredibly patient and well behaved.

I think they were well trained.

Dancing in the sun…

My little guy dancing in the sun on Labor day weekend up at Silverlake near Mt. St. Helens. We went camping up there with our family and had a great time for a few days. We all got the rest and relaxation we needed and I think the kids enjoyed it even more than us old folks did.

I love to push myself with photography and experiment with lighting. The sun setting is my favorite time of day. Often I will schedule sessions at that time to get the beautiful light that only happens once a day. It’s such a beautiful time and the light just glows.

I’m sad that summer is winding down to an end. I love being outdoors and seeing the beauty God created.

My friend Amanda and I got together this weekend (she’s a fellow photographer) and she was kind enough to take a new photo of me. She got to put me through what I put others through. It’s was kinda hard being a model. I needed a new pic for my site that didn’t have Mr. D squishing my face (though a pic with him is always better since he’s such a cutie).

Trash the dress (a bridal session)

The latest craze in wedding photography is to do a “trash the dress” bridal session. These are done after the wedding (sometimes even years later). It gives brides a chance to have fun in their dress and get photos they weren’t able to get on their wedding day. Now, we don’t actually “trash the dress” during these sessions, but since the wedding is over we don’t worry as much about getting it dirty or playing around.

These were taken here in Longview at Lake Sacajawea in the Asian Gardens (one of my favorite locations).

First day of first grade….

Miss K finally started school again. I can’t believe our summer has come and gone already!!. She is very excited to be back with her friends and have a new teacher. When we went shopping for her school supplies she insisted on buying a Hannah Montana backpack. She even used her birthday money to get it since she already had a backpack. It’s so fun when they get into a character that they just HAVE to have the stuff.

When I took her to the back to school BBQ and orientation, she kept saying “mom, you’re embarrassing me.” I was just playing with her hair like I normally do and now she’s become aware that it’s just not cool to have your mom fussing with you. On the second day of school, her grandpa took her to school and asked if she wanted him to walk her to the door. She replied “Grandpa, I’m a big first grader now, I can walk myself.” I guess she’s growing up.

I met these cute little guys at the park for a quick session. These handsome little ones are the best buds of my two boys. Their parents and us have already decided they’re going to play ball together in a few years. It’s so much fun watching these kids. Little T is younger than my Mr. D and he’s already sitting up! He’s so advanced for his age.

They both have so much personality as you can see from “D” in picture number two. He was hilarious to photograph. That kid can get a laugh out of anyone!

Seven months old…

Mr. D is now seven months old. He’s almost crawling already. He scoots himself all over the floor and rolls around to get to where he wants to be. He tries so hard to sit up, but he has such a big head that I think he can’t quite balance it yet (a trait of my kids is having large heads, must be a Lemmons thing). He’s also teething, so hence the drool. I kinda think it’s cute, but I often have “mommy goggles” when it comes to my kids.

After I uploaded the photos from the “tutus in the river” session, I knew that something needed to be done with some of the photos. I asked a few friends to help me out with ideas and my friend Charlotte Stringer came up with her version of “where the fairies live” using one of the photos. She did an awesome job!

I did my own version using a different photo. Though mine isn’t near as cool as hers, it was fun learning the techniques on how to do this. Playing around with photo art is something I strive to do more often. It’s interesting how far you can take photoshop. I’m constantly learning new things every day!

Amazing eyes – The “B” Family

These little girls just melted my heart. Both of them had the sweetest dispositions and were so fun to be around. To top it off, both of them had the most striking eyes I’ve ever seen. Their mama is a knockout, so it’s no wonder where they got their looks. Their daddy’s gonna have to lock them in a closet once they get old enough. Those boys will be calling in no time!! Maybe I should seal the deal and arrange marriages with my boys to these girls. With parents as cool as theirs, it might be a good idea.

I’ve known the mom since we were in school together. We ran track at Kelso High. Ahhh, those were the good old days. Now I get my work outs by chasing down little kids and acting like a nut case to get them to smile at the crazy lady with a camera.

Miss K – Painted

My really cool friend, Kylie, painted this picture of Miss K. I took the photo a couple of months ago and Kylie asked if she could “paint” it. She did it using photoshop. It’s amazing what that program can do. I use it for all of my photo editing and after two years of using it, I’m still learning new things with it every day. I create all of my templates, storyboards, and collages using photoshop as well.

On Tuesday I got to meet a few kids out on the Coweeman river to do some fun shots!

We drove for about a half hour to get to the perfect spot and it turned out to be well worth it. These are the sessions where I truly love being a photographer. Not only were these kids adorable, they were really great in front of the camera. Babies and kids photography is by far my favorite. I do enjoy weddings, families, and events, but THIS is what I truly love to do.

Six and Six months…

My babies are growing so fast!! I photograph them all the time and I still can’t believe how big they get in between sessions. Miss K just turned six this last week and will start the first grade in the fall. Baby D just turned six months. Where did the time go?

I took them outside for an unplanned session in my front yard. Thankfully they all cooperated and amazingly I got a photo of them all together looking at the camera! I didn’t even have to bribe them this time.

Course I DID tell Tinker that Mickey Mouse was inside my camera…

So watcha think… any of them look like their mom??

Gone Fishing… photography in Longview, WA

Derrick took the kiddos on their very first fishing expedition (well, it was Miss K’s second time fishing as she’ll very politely point out).

We traveled really far to Lake Sacajawea. I say “really far” meaning it sarcastically since we live so close to it.

The kids had a really good time with their daddy. The baby just kind of sat there, but he was at least in good spirits about it. Mr. I had just got a new “cars” pole and he was REALLY excited when daddy helped him catch his first fish. Not bad for a $10 toy from Wal Mart.

The truth behind the photos…

So most people assume that it’s easy for me to get good photos of my kids.

Let me be the first to tell you that it’s not.

I have literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of photos of “outtakes” of my kiddos. I can spend an hour with another child and get tons of smiles, and DAYS with my kids and get crazy reactions. Maybe it’s because they’ve been my test pilots over the years, or maybe it’s because I’m their mom.

Whatever it is, I’m not going to quit harassing them any time soon. They’ll just have to get used to it and I’ll just have to work even harder to get some good photos of them.

Here’s the latest of my efforts. I hope you enjoy

Here’s my “Tinker.” We call him that because he’s a stinker (but it wouldn’t really be nice to call him stinker).

This is a very common reaction when mom pulls out the camera… “look mom, see what I can do?!”

You’d think being the baby, “Button” (as my hubby calls him), would be more cooperative… not so.

He’s already got that look.

And finally we have “Nuh Nuh” (yeah.. I don’t even know about that nick name… you’ll have to ask hubby)…

She’ll give a pretty face for maybe one out of ten photos. It usually takes bribery of all sorts to get her to work with me.

Seven wonderful years…

Today Derrick and I will celebrate seven years of marriage together. I really can’t believe how time flies so quickly. Although at times it’s felt like a hundred years

We’ve had our ups and downs over the years. We’ve been through the Army life, separations, moving, kids, and every other thing a couple goes through in marriage. There were times we didn’t think we would make it together, but God’s grace got us through.

I can honestly say that I married the best man. I’m not normally a mushy person, but when it comes to my husband, the father of my beautiful children; I can’t help but be mushy. I love him very much…

On July 14th, 2001 we got married in Carmel, California in a small ceremony on the beach. We had thirty five of our closest friends and family with us.

We ended up spending six years moving around the country and living in various different places. We moved an average of every six months. It was hard, but quite an exciting life! We had our daughter in San Angelo, Texas, our son in Honolulu, Hawaii, and our newest baby was born here in town. I am glad we got to have such an adventure in our first few years together.

Now we’re settled down In longview, Washington. I never thought I’d move back home, but after having kids, there’s nowhere I’d rather be than at home near our family.

So here’s to many more years of marriage!!!

Little Miss Brooklyn…

This little girl was such a doll!!! I photographed her parents wedding this last year. It’s amazing how time flies by so quickly. They are such a beautiful couple and it shows with their gorgeous daughter. I did an in-home session with this little gal. She was quite expressive for only being three months. After we thought we’d finished her session, she fell asleep on her mama. Normally I only get sleeping shots with tiny newborns, but she was more than cooperative for us.

It always seems to work that way.. just when I think I’m done with a session, THAT is when I get the best photographs. Of all the different things I do with photography, I think babies and kids are my favorite to photograph. It’s their sweet innocence that gets me every time….

The Dunlap Wedding… Longview, WA

This last Saturday, June 21 2008, I photographed the wedding for the Dunlaps in Longview at the brand new First Baptist Church. My Sister-in-law Natalie Schneibel also photographed with me. She and I do weddings and events together. She is a very experienced and skilled photographer. We’ve been working together for the last year.

This was the very first wedding that took place in the church so it was a very special day for many reasons. I used to attend Longview First Baptist when I was in Junior High and High School. Seeing Pastor Kevin White brought back so many memories. It’s so nice to see them grow as a church family. Even though I now attend Grace Bible Fellowship in Kelso, I still miss a lot of the folks I used to go to church with there. Jennilee and Aaron have decided to make Longview First Baptist their home church.

I’ve been friends with Jennilee since we were little kids so it was natural for Jennilee to pick Lemon Drops Photography as her wedding photographer. We played softball together for years. I remember having slumber parties with the team. Two of my other good friends were bridesmaids. I felt like I was at a reunion. I think I had as much fun as they did, if not more.

The Kelso senior high school classmates now reside in longview with their two dogs. I personally am hoping they decide to expand their family soon with kids, but that’s purely for selfish reasons. I can’t wait until we get baby Dunlaps!!!

They are such a wonderful couple. I was honored to photograph their special day.

I am now accepting entries for this year’s contest. This contest is all about finding my new cover model!!!

The winner of this contest will receive a free session, a free 11X14 print, and a $40 gift card to Old Navy to pick out a new outfit for the shoot.

Children entered can be any age from 1 day old to 14 years old. Photos entered must be from the last two months. Please only black and white or colored images.

All entries must be received by June 30th. Voting will start on July 1st and will run for one week. The voting will be public.

My baby girl had her first ballet recital a few weeks back. She’s quite the little ballerina already. She has lessons in Longview, WA at Evergreen Ballet studio. They are extremely good and in a short year she learned quite a bit. They had a photographer come to do their pictures, but being the photographer mommy I am, I had to do my own. I also took some snaps of her while they had their dress rehearsal. They performed Alice in Wonderland. Shortly after the show, Miss K took it upon herself to read the entire chapter book of Alice in Wonderland. I am constantly amazed at how well that little girl reads. She takes after her extremely smart daddy. He was reading really well at a young age.

So I borrowed Miss K’s flowers for a little photo op yesterday. She got these for her kindergarten graduation (no, I surprised myself and didn’t cry like I thought I would). I love to play around with different styles of photography every once in awhile. These were inspired by a friend of mine on flickr. She took pics of flowers in front of different every day objects but made it look like it was all staged and set up. It was really cool!!

I got to photograph this beautiful family at Lake Sacajawea in Longview this last Tuesday. The Lake is absolutely gorgeous this time of year. We spent most of our time in the Asian Gardens. It’s breathtaking to visit and a perfect backdrop for photographs. I’m so lucky that this wonderful spot is practically in my back yard.

Thank goodness the weather held up for us. Just as we were about to leave it started raining. I’ve heard some people call this “june-uary.” It sure doesn’t feel like summer lately. Hopefully it starts getting warmer.

It’s not every day that I get the chance to work with such nice, wonderful people. They were so much fun!

So when you are named Lemmons, you do crazy things like collect lemon things and decorate your kitchen with lemons. You also take it so far as to dress your children in crazy lemon clothes and make them wear funny hats. We Lemmons are strange bunch of folks. I just went to a wedding in Kelso for a fellow Lemmons family clan. Guess what their theme was…

yup, you guessed it, LEMONS!!! They had lemon slices in the vases, lemonheads as favors, the main wedding color was yellow.

So here’s my weekly contribution to the lemon craze….

Graduating Kindergarten…

Miss K only has a week left of kindergarten. Sniff sniff. She’ll have the whole summer here at home to get bored. Ha ha.

I seriously don’t know what to do with that girl. She’s so stinking smart. She’s already reading chapter books at a third and fourth grade level. Don’t worry, she didn’t get it from me. She’s lucky her daddy’s super smart.

I got a new lens and was practicing out in the yard. She’s such a good little model. Maybe a little TOO good….

My little guy is four months old now. It gets me weepy just thinking about it. It seems like he was just born and now he’s almost ready to be eating real food. It also seems like yesterday when miss K was born. She’ll be finishing up her first year of kindergarten in less than two weeks. I can’t believe I’ll be a mom to a first grader!! Man that makes me feel old…

Here’s a pic of the little guy. Taken a couple of weeks ago. I plan on doing his four month pics soon, but haven’t gotten to it yet.

I got the chance to photograph this handsome young man for his senior photos. I haven’t been out to a farm in ages, much less been around horses very much. Thankfully all the animals were really nice and I didn’t get nervous being around them. His dog was really cool too. He didn’t seem to mind me snapping away. Both the horse and the dog were great models for me. It was a lot of fun!

So I caught Miss K jumping on the bed last night (big no no, her little brother always copies and gets hurt).

Since it’s been so hot out we put a fan up in her room. So… she was jumping and singing into the fan. Course being the mommy photographer that I am I had to grab my camera.

She had her hair blowing and was playing supermodel. After I uploaded these I was convinced that it was time for a shotgun for all those boys that would be knocking my door when she gets older.

I know I’m a biased mother and have always thought my kids are beautiful, but this just scares me….

I got to go on a fun adventure with these adorable little girls. We got to explore a fun little island.

We saw birds, pretend turtles, and beautiful flowers. We explored little houses and ponds with fish. We had to jump across the bridge to avoid the trolls, but we made it out okay!

I had the most fun the other night with this couple. They just got engaged and I was lucky enough to do their photos. I can’t wait till the wedding!!! We’re going to have the best time. The bride is a good friend of mine from WAY back in the day. We played softball together from when we were about ten years old… awwww… some good memories. Go Cobras!!!
